The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is seeking help to find the driver who was involved in a hit-and-run accident in early April in the east part of the Las Vegas Valley.

On April 3, 2019 at about 11:25pm, 48-year-old Jacqueline Dillon was struck and killed while crossing East Charleston Boulevard, east of South Arlington Street, near Nellis Boulevard.  Dillon was with her 7-year-old grandchild. Her grandchild made it across the street safely. Dillon died at the scene. The Clark County coroner’s office determined that Dillon’s death was an accident due to multiple blunt force injuries.

Witnesses at the scene of the accident reported that Dillon was struck by a white Toyota that was heading east on Charleston Boulevard.

LVMPD has stated that the car is a white 2011 to 2013 model Toyota Corolla S, which may have front-end damage because of the crash.

Police asked anyone with information about the crash or the car to call Metro’s collision investigation section at 702-828-4060.

Nevada Hit and Run Laws

Nevada State law requires drivers who are involved in a motor vehicle accident have the duty to stop and render aid at the scene of an accident.

If a driver fails to comply and the hit-and-run crash involved death or bodily injury, the hit-and-run driver is guilty of a category B felony punishable by two to 20 years in prison, a fine of $2,000 to $5,000, and possible license suspension or revocation.  If the hit-and-run involved property damage only, the driver will face a misdemeanor charge with penalties including up to six months in jail, a fine of up to $1,000, and demerit points his or her license. See NRS 484E.010, NRS 484E.020, and NRS 484E.030.

When a car accident results in death, bodily injury, or property damage, all involved drivers must stop and exchange information including: names, addresses, vehicle registration numbers.  They are also required to show their driver’s license upon request. Nevada law also requires drivers to give this information to any police officer that responds to the scene.
