This month Anthem Injury Lawyers interviewed our Case Manager, Chantal Soriano. We discussed the joy she gets from helping clients, her experiences working during the pandemic, and her young son. The transcript of the interview is included below.
Case Manager
AIL: What do you do at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
CS: I’m one of the case managers for the prelitigation side.
AIL: What does that entail?
CS: I pretty much just manage files. I kinda guide clients through the whole process, making sure that they’re getting the right treatment. I help the attorneys with the demands and when they negotiate with the insurance companies. Just making sure that the case runs smoothly.
AIL: How long have you been with Anthem Injury Lawyers?
CS: Two and a half years. I started right before the COVID pandemic hit.
AIL: How was that?
CS: It was rough. I was the receptionist at the time, so I was actually the only one who stayed in the office with the partners throughout the whole pandemic.
AIL: I heard you have been at Anthem the longest out of all the staff, is that true?
CS: Yeah, other than Susy of course.
AIL: What’s your favorite thing about working at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
CS: Definitely the environment. I think everybody says that. I think the partners do a really good job of just creating a very supportive environment for everyone. Whether it’s the case managers or even our receptionist, I think everybody feels like a team. I don’t think that’s very common in a lot of law firms—to be able to kinda fall back on the other assistants and even the partners themselves. They provide a lot of guidance for everybody.
AIL: It sounds like a really positive place to work.
CS: Yeah, it is.
AIL: What led you to this career?
CS: *laughter* I guess a quarter life crisis. I worked for the school district since I was 18 and then I ended up leaving because I was actually going to go to UNR, the University of Nevada Reno, to pursue criminal psychology fully. That’s actually what I’m in school for right now is psychology. I was literally about to go and everything and I got accepted and then I just got cold feet, and something told me to try to like maybe try out law firms and see if I really want to do criminal psychology. I just remember seeing the job posting and something just drew me to the office…and here we are.
AIL: Your profile says you are at the College of Southern Nevada. Are you still enrolled there?
CS: I took a little break because I had a baby but yeah, I’m still technically a student.
AIL: Congratulations! When did you have your baby?
CS: August 2020, so he’s about to be two. His name is Guillermo but the partners call him Giuseppe. It’s a little inside joke. He definitely keeps me on my toes. He is a very busy guy.

All In a Day’s Work
AIL: What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
CS: Thinking back to two and a half years ago, it was the partners. Maybe it’s the movies and whatnot but you kinda get the impression that lawyers are very hard to talk to and kinda scary to approach. I was just pretty surprised to see just how welcoming the partners were and how supportive they were of all of the employees. I guess that’s kinda what has kept me here so long.
AIL: What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
CS: Besides how quickly I grew with the company, I think it’s just every time that we win a case for a client it’s just a full-circle moment. When you first meet them, they’re in a really bad place and their confidence is gone. A lot of clients say that their dignity is gone. Then getting to that point where we can call them and say, “Hey, we just settled your case. We just won your case.” That’s what inspires me to work so hard. To be able to bring their life back in a way. I guess at the end of the day that’s why we are here.
AIL: How do you prefer to start your day?
CS: On a regular workday I like to wake up pretty early so I can take my time getting ready and take a long drive to work so I can listen to some music and get some coffee in and just think about how I want my day to end on a good note or think about if there are things to do.
AIL: Do you have a go-to coffee order?
CS: Yes. Everyone judges me because I always get Starbucks, but I just like their regular iced espresso with cinnamon powder. Something simple.
AIL: What energizes you at work?
CS: Music and coffee.
Life in Las Vegas
AIL: What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?
CS: I would say entering toddlerhood with my son. It’s been really fun. Everyday there’s something new with him. Like he wasn’t doing this yesterday and now he’s doing it today or new words.
I guess also because with the pandemic when he was born we were just very isolated and didn’t go out much. Now that things have kinda calmed down in the past year, we take him out a lot. We go anywhere we can think of here that is kid friendly. It’s just fun to see him so excited to be out because as a baby he was just at home all the time.
AIL: What’s some of the places you take him in Las Vegas?
CS: Springs Preserve is our number one. That’s his favorite place. Then the Shark Reef and the Dolphin Habitat inside the Mirage. There’s a bunch of dolphins and wild animals like lions and tigers. He really liked it there. He’s very into fish so he also loves the Shark Reef. I cannot get him away from each little aquarium because he’s just stuck. He could watch the jellyfish all day.
AIL: What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
CS: When I get home I like to eat dinner with my son and we usually watch a movie or we’ll go out to The District just to stroll and get some ice cream. Then I usually end my day at the gym.
AIL: What three words would your friends use to describe you?
CS: I would say loyal, funny, and reliable.
AIL: What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
CS: Like I said before, probably out with my son somewhere…probably Springs Preserve. Maybe shopping or spending time with my family and my friends.
AIL: Is most of your family in Las Vegas?
CS: A majority of my family lives down in Mexico. I haven’t seen them because of the pandemic but I’m actually planning on going later this year so that will be really fun.
