This month Anthem Injury Lawyers interviewed our Case Manager, Allyssa Swayze. We discussed her love of learning and her three rescue dogs. The transcript of the interview is included below.
Case Manager
AIL: What do you do at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
AS: I’m a Case Manager here. I assist clients throughout the entirety of the personal injury case. Just making sure that they’re getting the care that they need and making sure that I’m keeping them updated throughout each different case phase, through treatment all the way to settlement.
AIL: Do you spend a lot of your time on the phone with them or how do you communicate with them?
AS: Yeah, I definitely spend quite a bit of time over the phone, especially getting to know them and building a relationship I’d like to say.
AIL: What’s your favorite thing about working at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
AS: I love that I’m constantly learning new things. Whether it’s in the legal field or by reading medical records and learning about the medical side of it all. So, I just feel like there’s always an opportunity to learn and then grow within the office.
AIL: Are you still pursuing your degree in Criminal Justice?
AS: I already graduated.
AIL: When did you graduate?
AS: It was last fall. Not a year ago, just a few months ago.
AIL: So, the fall of 2021?
AS: Yeah.
AIL: Was that at UNLV?
AS: It was at CSN, just online classes.
AIL: Okay, so that’s College of Southern Nevada?
AS: Yeah.
AIL: What led you to this career?
AS: I’ve always been interested in the legal field. I’ve just always wanted to feel like I could help people.
AIL: How long have you been working at Anthem?
AS: I’m going on two years next month.
AIL: So, for a lot of the time that you were in school?
AS: Yeah.
AIL: Was that hard balancing the two?
AS: No, I was kinda just doing a couple classes just to finish up the degree, but it wasn’t too-too hard to balance it. With COVID and everything it was online so that kinda made it easier.
AIL: What’s one thing that surprised you about working at Anthem Injury Lawyers?
AS: Definitely the growing opportunities. When I started here, I just started as a Legal Assistant and was quickly promoted to Case Manager. I just love that I can show my potential and I feel like there’s still more room and more opportunities to grow even from here.
AIL: That’s always a good feeling to have when you’re working someplace.
AS: Definitely.
AIL: What’s a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?
AS: I had the opportunity to train different colleagues and different coworkers here so it’s really great to see them also kind of grow and be promoted within the firm. A couple of them, they started as Legal Assistants as well and now they’re Case Managers so it’s also just nice to see them excel and grow within the firm too. It’s definitely a team environment.
Dog Cuddles and Dog Walks
AIL: How do you prefer to start your day?
AS: After my morning dog cuddles, I like to just get up and take them out for a short walk in the morning just to get out and get stretched and enjoy the sun before it gets too-too hot.
AIL: What kind of dogs do you have?

AS: I have three, they’re all rescues. I have one poodle, beagle, chihuahua mix. So she’s like a little white, fluffy dog. I have another…he’s a mini-German shepherd. We found him just running in the road and we couldn’t find his owner. And then, I have another dog, she’s a little mix. I’m not too sure what she is but she’s just another rescue that I got a couple years ago.
AIL: Do you take them all for a walk at the same time?
AS: Me and my boyfriend will. I’ll have one and he’ll have two and we’ll switch off. The one, she’s a little older, so we have a stroller for her. So, it’s a little easier honestly.
Adventures and Relaxing
AIL: What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?
AS: This past year I recently visited Hawaii for the first time so that was really amazing and beautiful to see. It makes me excited to travel more.
AIL: Where did you go in Hawaii?
AS: We went to Honolulu.
AIL: What did you get to do on your trip?
AS: We did a bunch of stuff. We went on a submarine tour. We went throughout the island. Just lots of sightseeing and being on the beach.
AIL: What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day?
AS: I definitely like to just relax on the couch and watch tv. When it’s sports season I love watching hockey. We have the Golden Knights here and I’m a big fan. I like to go to games or just watch at restaurants or at home. When it’s not too hot, going out for evening walks with the dogs.
AIL: Do you have any favorite shows that you’re currently watching?
AS: Right now, I’m watching Stranger Things, so just catching up on that. I’ve been kinda in a struggle right now to find new shows.
AIL: What three words would your friends use to describe you?
AS: Caring, indecisive, and funny…I hope.
AIL: What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?
AS: On the weekend I like to just spend time with friends and family. Spend time just trying new adventures if I can travel some more or just relaxing.
AIL: Do you have a lot of family in the area?
AS: Yeah, close family is all here.
