Las Vegas, NV (December 23, 2019) – Anthem Injury Lawyers are proud supporters of the Friends of India Las Vegas Annual Diwali Party. The program included dinner, dancing, and local entertainment. Tickets for members were $30 and for non-members were $35. Student and performer tickets were $20 and children under 5 were free. This year’s event was held on October 26th at the Eastside Cannery Casino in the Grand Ballroom.
Celebrating the Cultural Heritage of India
Friends of India Las Vegas (FOILV) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Indian culture within the Las Vegas community through events, activities, and festivals. By hosting events like the Diwali Party, Friends of India tries to maintain the cultural heritage of India and providing a welcoming space for the 10,000 plus Indian Americans who call Southern Nevada their home. Other popular events hosted by FOILV include India’s Independence Day celebration, which includes a parade, traditional Bollywood performances, and dinner, and the annual Holi picnic, a colorful festival that celebrates the end of winter and beginning of spring.

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is traditionally celebrated during the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika, which is usually around October or November. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness. This year’s Diwali Party hosted by FOILV featured an all-vegetarian dinner, including appetizers, chai, and dessert. Over 100 children and adults participated in the evening’s 3-hour long entertainment portion. Featured entertainers included Bollywood playback singers Samir Date and Saregama star Somaiya Date, along with local talent.
