We love being a part of the Las Vegas community and are always looking for ways to support local organizations. To kick off 2023, we were honored to be a presenting sponsor of RAD’s annual K5 Walk/Run in Cornerstone Park which took place this past weekend. Several members of the Anthem Team joined to show their support for this worthy cause.
RAD (which stands for making a Real Autism Difference) is an admirable org whose mission is to make a positive impact in the lives of children with autism and families in the Las Vegas area every day.

They envision a community where every individual with autism has access to education, care, activities, and medical resources necessary to lead a happy and fulfilled life. RAD’s resource directory is a fantastic option for families looking for available options in Southern Nevada.
According to the CDC, 1 out of every 59 children under the age 18 in the U.S. has some form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It’s estimated that as many as 8,500 school-age children in Nevada have been diagnosed with ASD, most living right here in the Las Vegas valley area.
Education for parents, teachers, and physicians is vitally important in recognizing and treating ASD. Early diagnosis and treatment can drastically reduce autism symptoms. Most children are diagnosed around age 3, though it is possible to diagnose as early as 18 months.
Not to mention: most kids with ASD don’t qualify to participate in after-school programs, day-camps and summer-camps due to the nature of their specialized needs.

It’s estimated that a new autism diagnosis is given every 20 minutes in the U.S., making it the fastest-growing developmental disability in our country. Despite its growth, funding for autism research ranks the lowest behind cancer, diabetes, and aids.
RAD and other similar organizations help support this important cause by fundraising and providing events, services, and resources to this important segment.
“My family and I loved being able to participate in this year’s event,” noted Anthem Injury Law Partner Puneet Garg. “It’s important to us to support local nonprofits to share and amplify their mission.”
